Chairman
Mr Victor Okon Nkpubre
A native of Ukuko II. He was born on 15th December, 1967 into the family of the late Chief Okon Nkpubre, a renowned teacher and community leader, and Mrs Nkoyo Okon Nkpubre, a businesswoman.
Hon. Nkpubre attended the University of Calabar where he obtained a B.Sc. degree in Animal Science. He also received an M. Sc degree in Agricultural Economics from the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
He worked with Societe Generale Bank of Nigeria as a Customer Service Officer between 1995 and 1998 before joining a foremost financial services company, First Standard Investment Ltd., where he rose to the position of Operations Manager.
However, with the dawn of democracy in the country, Mr Nkpubre resigned his appointment with First Standard Investment for participation in active politics. Subsequently, he received the endorsement of the party, PDP, to vie for the chairmanship of Urue Offong/Oruko LGA. As a grassroots mobilizer, his people voted overwhelmingly for him in the chairmanship elections that was held on 7th June, 2008.
Mr Nkpubre is a strong believer in Governor Godswill Akpabio`s vision of total development of Akwa Ibom State, especially in the areas of provision of basic socio-economic infrastructure, free and compulsory education in primary and secondary schools, and a lot more.
He believes that the major way the Local Government Chairmen can support the good initiatives of Chief Akpabio in the development of the State, is to replicate what the Governor has done in the State in their respective LGAs.
He is happily married to Mrs Atim Nkese Victor Nkpubre, Corporate Affairs Manager of Globacom Ltd., and they are blessed with children.
