Map of UKANAFUN Local Government Area


Location: Ukanafun Local Government occupies the Eastern Niger Delta fringes and is drained by Qua Iboe River. The area is located on the National map between latitudes 4° 28` and 4° 33` North and longitudes 7° 30` and 7° 50` and bounded by Etim Ekpo in the East and in the West and Abak Local Government Area in the South.

Elder Aniekan Slmon Akpan

He was born in 1957 in Ikot Oku Usung in Ukanafun Local Government Area.

He attended the Northern Ukanafun Government School, Nkek Idim from 1963 to 1969. From 1971 to 1975, he attended St. Augustine`s Secondary School, Urua Inyang in Ika Local Government Area. He gained admission into the University of 1I0rin in Kwara State in 1978 and graduated with B.Sc (Education and Biology) in 1982. He won the Department Prize in Curriculum, and the Federal Government Academic Merit Award, University of Illorin.

Elder Akpan also taught for years at the Community Secondary School, Nkek in Ukanafun in 1983 where he worked till 1986 when he became the vice-principal. He later worked at Comprehensive Secondary School in Ikpe Annang, where he served as Principal, 1988 to 1989. He was vice-principal at Community Secondary School, Nung Ita, Ikot Ibrltam In Oruk Anam LGA. Between 2004 and 2007, he served as Principal, Special Grade, at the Community Comprehensive High School, Ntak Afaha.
