Barr Christopher Eseme Essien
 He was born on 20th June, 1966, in Ikot Oku Akpan, Asutan Ekpe, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area. He attended Mainland Day Nursery School, Ikate, Surulere, in 1970, and thereafter, proceeded to Santa Maria Nursery/Primary School, Aboh Hill, Aba, in 1972. He completed his primary education at Presbyterian Primary School, Enwe Street, Uyo, in 1976.
He attended the prestigious Holy Family College, Abak, and Etinan Institute, Etinan, where he obtained his WASC in 1982. He had also attended the defunct School Arts and Science, Uyo.
In 1985, Barr Essien got admission into the then University of Cross River State (now University of Uyo) to read Law, and graduated with LL.B in 1989. The same year, he enrolled at the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos, and was called to the Bar in 1990. He did his compulsory national youth service, NYSC, in Enugu, then in Anambra State.
He started his legal career with Ita Enang Associates, a firm of legal practitioners in Uyo from 1991 to 1994, and from there, with two of his colleagues, he formed a partnership, Essien Ukpe and Associates. In 1996 he was elected a councillor in the defunct Ekpe Atai Local Government Area, and eventually became the Vice-Chairman, until Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area was carved out from both Ekpe Atai and Uyo Local Government Areas.
In 1992, he was appointed the National Director, Legal, Intelligence and Security of our great party, POP, at the National ~ecretariat, Abuja, till 2008, when he resigned to contest election for the office of Chairman, IbesikpoAsutanLGA.
He is married to Ememobong Christopher Essien and they are blessed with three children, one girl and two boys. He is a devout Christian and a very social person.
His hobbies are football, table tennis, and lawn tennis. He is also a voracious reader.
