Location: Etinan is located on latitude 05° 1`N and or 54`E in Central Akwa Ibom, 26km from Uyo, bounded with Nsit Ibom, Mkpat Enin, Onna, Uyo and Abak Local Government Areas.

Chairman
Hon. Kenneth Ime Okon
He was born on 26th December, 1968, and began his educational journey at Salvation Army School, Ekom Iman, Etinan, in 1971 and obtained the FSLC in 1977. Between 1985 and 1987, he attended St. Mary`s Secondary Comm. Grammar School, Ikot Nseyen, Nkwot Ikono, in Ikono LGA. Thereafter, he sat for the GCE and obtained his papers. For tertiary education, Hon. Okon attended the School of Accountancy and Business Studies. At present he is doing a degree programme in Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Uyo.
From 1987 to 1998, he worked as assistant sales representative at Acestoys Plastics Company, and as assistant marketing manager at Jopen Petroleum, from 1998 to 2000. Also, between 1997 and 1999, he served as Akwa Ibom State Government supervisor, PPMC, Calabar depot, as well as the State depot representative at Port Harcourt refinery between 1999 and 2000. From 2000 to 2002, he was chairman of Special Monitoring Committee on Petroleum Products, and also chairman/chief executive, Mme-Mme Nigeria Ltd. from 2001. He also held the position of chief consultant, Intel Concept (security consultants), from 2002.
Obong Okon has also had a lot of exposure and experience in political leadership. In 2005 he was the chairman of Youth Advisory Committee, Etinan LGA; the personal assistant to the Chairman, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, between 2006 and 2007; and from 2007, was the leader of the Supreme Council of Youths in Akwa Ibom State.
Others include, chairman, G-13; chairman, Ibom Allied Congress; chairman, Committee of Youth Leaders, AKS; chairman, Akwa Ibom State Youth Caucus; chairman, Central Working Committee, Sub-Security Committee, Attah/Ekpenyong (2003); chairman, Security Committee, Akwa lbom State Delegate to Abuja, 1999 National Convention; and chairman, Etinan Youth Leaders Forum.
Hon. Okon has also received not less than eight awards and honours. He is happily married and the marriage is blessed with children. His hobbies include reading, travelling, and sports.

ETINAN Local Government Area Etinan is located within the south eastern part of Nigeria and constitutes one of the Local Government Areas in the oil rich Akwa Ibom State. Known for its agricultural and arts craft products, the area forms one of the most peaceful locations in the West African State of Nigeria.

People The people are of the Ibibio speaking stock. Etinan people are dynamic, intelligent with a deep cultural heritage expressed through craft, arts, music and dances. They claim to be the brain basket of the State; mainly Christians and generally peaceful.
