Chairman
Dr. Barr. Asuquo Okon Anwana
He was born on 2nd September, 1959. He attended the Methodist School, Akani Obio, Oron, and completed his primary education in 1972. He also attended Methodist Boys High School, Oron from 1973 to 1977. In 1982 he gained admission into the School of Basic Studies, Akamkpa, where he did his I.J.M.B and obtained three advanced level papers in 1983.
Dr Anwana is very highly read. He holds BA (Second Class Upper) in History, 1992, from the University of Calabar. Other academic qualifications include M.A. History (Advancement), 1996; LL.B in 2002; PhD in History, 2003; and B.L from the Nigerian Law School, in 2005. He is an erudite author that has nine publications to his credit.
He has worked in the Nigerian Telecommunications Ltd, NITEL; and University of Calabar until he resigned voluntarily to contest for the chairmanship of Udung Uko and won.
He has also attended workshops, courses, and conferences across the nation. He has served as a very active member of many professional institutions among which are Historical Society of Nigeria, Learned Society of Academic Staff, Nigerian Universities, Nigerian Bar Association, Nigerian Institute of Management, Association of Professional Mediators and Negotiators, etc.
Barr Anwana has been honoured by various institutions, organizations, and unions as a result of dedication to service, hard work, commitment to academic excellence and service to humanity, among which are, Prof. Eyo Ita`s Prize for the best graduating student in History in 1992, best postgraduating student in History in 1996, and Award of Study Fellowship for Doctor of Philosophy, History, 1995-1999. He is also a fellow ofthe Institute of Corporate Administration.
He has served as member, Governing Council, Akwa Ibom Polytechnic; Board Member/Board of Directors, Akwa Ibom Transport Company Ltd, Uyo; Coordinator/Chairman, Udung Uko Local Government Monitoring Committee on National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP).
These accolades expectedly endeared him to his people leading to his general acceptability as Executive Chairman of Udung Uko LGA.
He is happily married and the marriage is blessed with five children: three sons, two daughters.
