Methodist Prelate Assures Akpabio on Re-Election

The Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, (MCN), His Eminence Dr. Sunday Ola Makinde, has assured the Akwa Ibom governor, His Excellency Chief Godswill Akpabio of total victory in the forth coming governorship elections in the State. Dr. Makinde gave this assurance at the inauguration of the MCN Diocese of Adadia in Uruan Local Government Area and ordination of Rt. Rev Etim Udo Ekong as Bishop of the diocese.


Akpabio was inducted as an honorary member into the Methodist Church of Nigeria. The Prelate of the Methodist Church, Dr. Makinde while commending Akpabio, said the honour was as a result of his positive contributions to the growth and development of the State and the MCN. Dr. Makinde who gave Akpabio a souvenir of a Bible and a hymn book also congratulated him on his victory at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial primaries in the State.


The Methodist Prelate, who had earlier commended Akpabio on his sound development programmes, is also credited with the description of the free education policy in the State as the reincarnation of Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Also ordained on the occasion as the diocesan lay President was Elder Edem Akpan Ntah Drawing his exhortation from Galatians Chapter 6v7, the priest warned Christians to serve God with sincerity to reap bountiful rewards. He charged the ordained Ministers to work in unity and in accordance with the word of God, to uplift the Church. Highpoint of the service was intercessory prayers for the Church and the success of the present administration led by the governor.


In his address, Akpabio advised those who have registered to keep their voter’s cards that will enable them to vote for candidates of their choice in the forth coming elections. He congratulated the leadership of the MCN for creating a new diocese in the State, and donated a bus and a saloon car to aid evangelism in the diocese.


He also took time off, to enumerate on the various efforts by his administration to curb the challenges of insecurity, adding, that with the stepping up of security and direct intervention from God, insecurity would soon be history in the State.
