Renovation of AKHA Complex Commences ...Assembly Commission Commended

The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly, Elder Sam Ikon, has commended the House of Assembly Service Commission for working hard to achieve its goals despite several challenges. Elder Ikon gave this commendation when the members of the commission paid him a courtesy visit at the assembly complex.
The Speaker also used the occasion to thank Governor Godswill Akpabio for approving the contract for the renovation of the Assembly complex. The Speaker who reacted to issues raised by the Assembly Commission promised that training of the staff of the state House of Assembly would be given priority and asked the leadership of the commission to put in modalities that will enable the House of Assembly pursue it swiftly.
Elder Ikon equally advised the Assembly Commission to send proposals for the harmonization of service between the staff of the House of Assembly and that of the Assembly Commission promising that such a proposal shall be given quick consideration. He thanked the Assembly Commission for identifying with the leadership of the House and solicited for peaceful co-existence to enable the fifth Assembly succeed.
Earlier the chairman of the Assembly commission, Mr. Simon Etim, said the visit was to congratulate members of the fifth Assembly and to intimate them of the commission’s challenges. Mr. Etim enumerated the challenges to include harmonization of service condition as it affects wardrobe allowances where staffs of the commission are denied the said benefit; staff training to be coordinated and supervised by the commission; harmonization of staff organizational structure with the National Assembly Commission especially as it regains Library services of the Assembly Service Commission’s office complex.
Other legislators who were on hand to receive members of the Assembly Commission were members representing Ibesikpo Asutan state constituency and other state House members.
