Jonathan to Inaugurate 20 Projects

President Goodluck Jonathan will on Thursday July 15, 2010 commence a two-day working visit to Akwa Ibom State. THISDAY checks revealed that during the visit, the president will inaugurate 20 projects while he will perform ground-breaking/inspection on eight other schemes.
Among those projects earmarked for inauguration on the first day of arrival are phase 1 of the Ibom International Airport, the Airport Road, Banking District road network, flyovers ll and lll, 21km Ekid Itam-Idoro-Ekom Iman Dual Carriage Way, Phase 1, Nung Udoe Itak-Okoita-Use Ikot Amama-Ibiaku Ikot Esifa road, section 1 and the new governor’s lodge,
Projects for inauguration during the second day of the visit are the 25km Abak-Ikot Ekpene dual carriage way, the 56 km Afaha Obong-Etim Ekpo-Iwukem road, Etim Ekpo Bridge, 12km Top Faith road, Police Secondary School, Mobile Police base, selected urban roads in Ikot Abasi, IPP access road.
One other task of the president during the visit will be the formal switching on of the Ibom Power Plant. Projects for the president to conduct ground-breaking/inspection are the Main Terminal of the Ibom Airport and inspect the MRO facilities at the airport.
Other projects for inspection include, e-library, drainage project and conduct ground breaking of gas pipeline project among others.
Apart from the civic reception being arranged for the president and his entourage at the Uyo township stadium and state banquet, Jonathan will hold Town Hall meeting with stakeholders in the state at the new Government House Ground.
The state Commissioner for Information and Social Re-Orientation, Mr. Aniekan Umana, said in a statement issued at the weekend that the people of the state are grateful to President Jonathan for his decision to visit the state and to see things for himself.
Umana, who doubled as the Chairman, Sub-Planning Commi-ttee of the visit, maintained that “for us, the visit of Mr. President is a home coming. He is our son, brother and friend”.
