A former military governor and chairman Akwa Ibom State Airport Implementation Committee Otuekong Idongsit Nkanaga has charged the entire people of Nsit Ibom L.G.A to always pray for peace and unity among the people.
Otuekong Nkanga gave the charge last Sunday at the Mount Zion Mission Church, Ikot Nya.
The retired Air commodore maintained that it becomes necessary for people to always thank God for their lives and achievement, adding that there is need for the people of Nsit Ibom to thank God, especially for the creation of Nsit Ibom local government. He thanked God for ensuring peace among the executive and the legislative arms of government in Nsit Ibom and for preserving the lives of the people of the area, adding that Nsit Ibom has produced prominent men and women in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria at large.
He called on the people of the area to be patient and law abiding, saying that the present administration under the leadership of Chief (Dr) Godswill Akpabio will bring more developments to the area.
The Nsit Ibom Chapter chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Obong Friday Umobio in his remarks thanked the council administration in Nsit Ibom for putting up the thanksgiving service, saying it was timely.
He called on the elected and political appointees to always see the need of extending dividends of democracy to their people at the grassroots so as to consolidate the governor's effort in that direction.
Also speaking the Commissioner for Education Dr. Nseabasi Akpan called on the people of Nsit Ibom to always live in peace among their brothers. He commended the state executive governor Chief Godswill Akpabio for construction of roads in Nsit Ibom L.G.A while assuring the people of the determination of government to do more.
The officiating minister Bishop A. E Okon in his message, maintained that the essence of the service was for thanksgiving, saying he was delighted with the number of people in attendance, while asserting that thanksgiving is a biblical thing.
Bishop A. E Okon who read from the book of Genesis 8:20 said it is important for people to always thank God so as to attract more blessings from God. The council chairman Elder Joshua Asuquo in his address explained that it was necessary to thank God for ensuring peace between the executive and legislative arms of government in Nsit Ibom L.G.A. He call on the people to always imbibe the spirit to embrace change, stressing that politics does not mean killing or deceit.
He commended the state executive governor Chief (Dr.) Godswill Akpabio for providing dividends of democracy to the entire people of the state pledging the support of the people for the governor in 2011.
