Jonathan to Visit Akwa Ibom, July 15

Barring last minute change of mind, President Goodluck Jonathan, will be on a two-day official visit to Akwa Ibom State.
According to the programme of event released yesterday by the office of the Director of Protocol, President Jonathan is expected to arrive in the state Thursday, July 15, 2010.
While in the state, he is expected to commission several projects, pay courtesy call on the Chairman, State Council of Chiefs as well as participate in a town hall meeting with the people of the state.
As part of his official visit activities, the president will also commission the state-of-the art Governor's lodge, which was completed September last year, the Ibom International airport, phase I, perform ground breaking of the main terminal, inspect the MRO facilities and commission the airport road.
Some of the projects lined up are commissioning of Banking District road network, inspect the E- Library, text books for the State's Free and Compulsory Education Programme, fly-overs II and III located on Atiku Abubakar Avenue, Waste Management Maintenance Equipment & Workshop, inspect drainage project site, Ekid Itam, Ekid Itam dual carriage way, phase I, the 21- kilometreEkid Itam - Idoro - Ekom Iman Dual Carriage Way, Phase I, Nung Udoe Itak - Okoita - Use Ikot Amama - Ibiaku Ikot Esifa Road, section I, and fire fighting equipment at the state fire service headquarters, on Dominic Utuk avenue.
Other activities billed for the second day of his visit are town hall meeting, commissioning of the 25 - kilometre Abak - Ikot Ekpene dual carriage way, the 56 - kilometre Afaha Obong - Etim Ekpo - Iwukem road, Etim Ekpo bridge, the 12-kilometre Top Faith road, the Police Secondary School, the Mobile Police base, IPP access road, inspection of the IPP facilities, presentation of Gas Pipeline project, ground breaking of Gas Pipeline project, among other projects.
