Abak Celebrates Akpabio

The state governor, Dr. Godswill Akpabio has been honoured by the Abak Clan Council of Chiefs of Akwa Ibom state.
The chairman of Abak Clan Council of Chiefs, Obong Friday Uko said the people of Abak had been longing for an opportunity to commend the state governor for all he had done for the people of Abak and the entire state.
He emphasized the massive development drive by the governor, which left the people of Abak with no option than to join in supporting a worthy leader.
Obong Uko appreciated the governor’s benevolence and love for Abak, which he expressed in the appointment offer to their sons in his administration.
Also speaking, the commissioner for Information and Social re-orientation , Mr. Aniekan Umanah described the strong show of support to the governor as a reflection of the appreciation of the people to good governance.
Chief Akpabio was honoured with an Elephant tusk, symbolizing authority, power and strength against any hurdle to the realization of his aspirations, while his deputy, Engr. Patrick Ekpotu was honoured with a sword. The secretary to the state government Obong Umana O. Umanah was also honoured with the title, Etonwed Abak.
Among the distinguished Nigerians honoured were the speaker of the state house of assembly Engr. Ignatius Edet, his deputy Obong Okon Uwah, Chairman of Essien Udim and chairman of ALGON in the state, Obong Nse Ntuen, Head of civil service, Mrs Grace Anwana as well as the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Commissioner for Finance, Commissioner for Housing and Urban renewal, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Commissioner for Women affairs and Social Welfare, Commissioner for Health, Commissioner for Rural Development, Commissioner for Economic Development, Special Adviser in Technical matters. Obong Ekperikpe Ekpo a Federal lawmaker, Members representing Uruan local government, Nsit Atai,Oruk Anam and Ika/Etim Ekpo, in the state House of Assembly.
Speaking on the occasion Governor Akpabio said his presence, despite the heavy down pour, was a demonstration of his desire to work assiduously to transform Akwa Ibom state under rain or sunshine.
He expressed his appreciation to the clan head, Chiefs and people of Abak clan for ensuring that the award of chieftaincy titles cut across people from all sections of the state which he said represented the unity of purpose that existed in the state.
Governor Akpabio in appreciation, assured that the state government would effect a complete renovation and turnaround of infrastructure at the Government Technical college, Abak and Holy family College, Oku Abak to allow for a conducive and more rewarding learning environment in the schools.
The clan head of Abak clan, Obong Friday Uko while presenting the awards to the awardees, said the civic reception was organized to enable the good people of Abak declare their solidarity to Governor Akpabio‘s second term in office in appreciation of his landmark achievements in less than two years in office and as well as enable the people of Abak clan to raise N30 million for the construction of a resource centre for the training of their youths. He therefore solicited for the assistance of government and the people of the state towards its realization.
