Council Boss Task Farmers On Fadama III

The Executive Chairman, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Akparawa Mfon Eno Nkanteen has urged farmers in the area to see Fadama III programme as an avenue for job opportunity, Wealth Creation and should not allow the project to disintegrate.
Akparawa Nkanteen who was represented by his supervisor for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hon. Uduak-Abasi Amos made the call while inaugurating the Local Fadama Development Committee and commissioned the Desk Office in Mkpat Enin recently.
He commended the Federal, State, Local governments and World Bank for assisting Fadama and maintained that Mkpat Enin Local Government has paid the counterpart fund of N4m (Four million naira).
The Council Boss thanked the Fadama facilitators for educating the rural people and solicited support from the farmers to make the programme succeed as Fadama I and II have succeeded in the North.
In his contribution the Ag. State Project Co-ordinator, Mr. Okon E. Otu said that Fadama III is a follow up of Fadama II which Akwa Ibom State did not participate. He noted that the project is targeted at the unemployed youths, Agro processors, crop, livestock and fish farmers and physically challenged people.
According to him, the State Government pays N56.3 million yearly for five years while the local government pays N200,000.00 annually for five years.
The twelve-member committee has Hon. Mfon Nkanteen as the Chairman, the post of the Deputy Chairman went to His Royal Highness, Obong Pius N. J. Udoh, while Mr. Friday J. Udoh, Fadama Desk Officer grabbed the post of a Secretary. Also in attendance were the members of Mkpat Enin Local Government legislature.
