UNICEF Donates Items to State Govt.

The Commissioner for Information and Social Re-orientation, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, has commended UNICEF for donating various items to two focus communities in the state to facilitate the well being of children and women in Ntafre and Itakabasi in Ibeno LGA.
Mr. Umanah made the commendation when the UNICEF Desk Officer in the Ministry, Mrs Blessing Ufot Urua, presented items received from the UNICEF A-Field Office in Enugu.
The Commissioner said the items donated which included posters on best practices to prevent bird flu and other diseases, should be distributed to the targeted communities for placement in strategic locations to ensure assimilation of the messages. He called on the communities to take good care of the items and ensure their safety.
Earlier, the Asst. Director of Information and the UNICEF Desk Officer in the Ministry, Mrs Blessing Ufot Urua explained that the items donated by UNICEF were, intended to enhance the living standard of the people, especially as it concerns child health and nutrition, basic education, child protection and participation as well as sanitation and hygiene, among others.
The items donated include (2) Sony CFD SOl-CD Cassette Radio, (2) Panasonic- TC-21fs 10 Flat TV with Remote Control and (2) Philips DVD Rec/VCR AB CD KIP with Remote Control.
Others are 250 School A1 size Poster, 250 Community A1 size Poster and 260 Hausa A1 size Poster, the Hausa posters being for the Hausa Community in Akwa Ibom state.
The presentation ceremony was witnessed by directors and other senior officials in the Ministry of Information and Social Re-orientation, among others.
