Following the slowing down of militant activities along the creeks of the Niger Delta, Bayelsa State government has kickstarted its industrialization programme, the state Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Bekeakpo Etifa has disclosed. To ensure the realization of this, the state owned plastic manufacturing factory will soon be completed. Etifa who disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in his office in Yenagoa, said that the plastic factory is one of government efforts at encouraging, investors to establish industries in the state. According to Etifa, the realization of the rapid industrialization dream of Governor Timipre Sylva is non-negotiable as the government is working assiduously towards its attainment. The Commissioner stressed that the resolution of the militant unrest along the creeks has made it easy for government to focus its attention on providing the basic needs of the people, which included employment opportunities that can only be made possible by the presence of industries in the state. Besides, Etifa disclosed that government will embark on the expansion of the Swali Ultra Modern Market in Yenagoa to accommodate more traders with the provision of better facilities. He lamented that the market can no longer serve the needs of traders as commercial activities in the state is growing very rapidly. He therefore assured Bayelsans of the Governor's resolve to create more opportunity for the people, but made it clear that "this can only be done in an atmosphere of peace."
