Seek Greatness Through Education - Akpabio
10 Apr 2012
Nigerian youths have been asked to see education as a panacea for greatness
and prosperity in order to engender the desired peace and development in the
country.
Governor Godswill Akpabio who made the call during the Easter Sunday at the
Salvation Army Church, Ukana Corps in Essien Udim Local Government Area said it
was wrong for the youths to acquire wealth through violence, kidnapping and
robbery.
Akpabio affirmed ''Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria must continue to pray to God
for our children to tow the right direction. Let our children not look for
prosperity and greatness in the wrong direction through violence, kiddnapping,
but in the right direction through education to bring in peace and development
in the country''.
On the Easter celebrations, Governor Akpabio remarked ''It is important that
I came here today to celebrate with you. My message is very simple: We should be
grateful to God because it is not everybody that has seen today. We should thank
God for a new day, whether it is good or not. One should always thank God''.
According to him ''We should be very careful in what we do, and may death not
see any of us. May God make us to live long to bury our parents and not
vice-versa because Jesus died for us to conquer death. And he has taken bad
roads away and brought development to us.
''God cannot disappoint Akwa Ibom State. We should always give glory to God
for our lives. Government constructed roads in the state for us to live and make
progress but not to die. I pray that God should receive all those who died in
Jesus Christ before today and receive them in His bosom'', he added.
In his homily, Major Gabriel O. Adepoja, who preached on ''The Ressurection
Power of Christ'', said that everybody needs the power of the ressurection to
survive; otherwise, temptation might come knocking, encouraging all to have an
encounter with Christ through the resurrection
of His power.
Major Adepoja appealed to Christians to love one another just as the Governor
has done because Jesus who had risen from the death had taken away fear and
dissapointment.
